Christmas Vacation in Texas

We made the journey to Texas for the holidays, the highlight of which was spending time with family in both McAllen and Austin. Sal and the kiddos nerded out for an afternoon at SpaceX. The Tamez family knocked it out of the park with a muy Mexicana Noche Buena for which all the Cubes came out in full force. Unseasonably mild temps, even for Texas, made for many wonderful afternoons playing dominoes outside with the Abuelos and bike-riding. M+V and Mimi hosted what will likely be our last Christmas in Austin, and the cousins got to enjoy the full childhood Christmas experience. We returned to Zagreb with our hearts full and grateful for such fun memories.

Christmas and New Years Vacation

We spent the holidays in South Texas, Christmas in McAllen and New Years in Austin.  While "winter" in South Texas can range in temperatures from 30F - 90 F, the change was welcomed.  Once again Annika loved Abu's cooking and once again she loved "mi boat".  Oh and my lovely wife got me a new toy for Christmas!!

Embassy Holiday Party 2015

The U.S. Embassy was nice enough to host a holiday party for the kids to include a special visit from Santa. Unfortunately, Annika is still at the scared ****less phase when it comes to Santa.  This day also turned into a mini photo shoot.

Noche Buena and Christmas in Quito 2014

As it was peanut's first Christmas - and she is just so damn photogenic - we took a million pictures. Looks like Santa needs to bring more memory cards and backup drives next year. We spent Noche Buena with good friends from the Embassy; it was a great evening complete with homemade spaghetti, old fashioneds, and tons of excited kids. We returned home to start our own new Christmas traditions. We must have been good this year as Santa came overnight and filled Annika's stocking, bringing her a little toothbrush for her 1/2 of a tooth. Santa also brought a train set that scared the bejeezus out of her.

We had a relaxing low key Christmas day starting with mimosas and ending with a candlelit dinner. We enjoyed our first Christmas as a family of 3 but missed spending time with our family.
